Overall Ordering Information

The Twisted Cow offers four key and popular sizes in collars cat-3/8in, 3/4in, 1in, 1.5in, and 2in.  All coordinating leashes are available in 3/4in and 1in only. 

When ordering collars and leashes please be sure to look at the pull down menus for each option so that you get the collar or leash that you want.  If you are ordering a collar and matching leash from the same listing, be sure to indicate the style of collar (martingale, buckle)  and the type of clasp that you want on your leash (snap hook or trigger snap).  If you forget to indicate the style of leash clasp that you want, the default is the snap hook (the lobster claw look). 

Collar Styles

Side release buckle (a.k.a. quick release buckle and available in Aluminum and Acetyl Plastic): This dog collar is created with an ultra strong contoured buckle, solid brass or nickel plated solid brass slide adjuster, and a solid brass or thick steel welded d-ring (light weight hardware is also available). It is suitable for most dogs of all sizes. NOT SUITABLE FOR SIGHT HOUNDS unless used for Tag Collars. This collar comes in all lengths and the widths 3/8 in (9mm), 3/4 in (19mm), 1 in (25mm), and 1.5 in (38mm), and 2 in (50mm).  Pictured in Denim Indigo in Gold

 

 

Double Loop Martingale (traditional martingale): Originally designed for Sight Hounds but they are proven very effective on any breed (large or small).  This collar is created by combining two loops to tighten and hold, thereby preventing your dog from "backing out" of their collar.  The smaller loop, when pulled, is designed to reduce the size of the larger loop and lock/stop the collar behind the dog's ears.
 

The collar will tighten but not choke your dog and it will  provide  maximum control and safety.  The collar is available in all lengths and in 3/4 in (19mm), 1 in (25mm), and 1.5 in (38mm), and 2 in (50mm) widths.  All 2 in (50mm) collars are only available in the Martingale style. Modified Martingale (a.k.a. single loop martingale): This collar tends to be a lighter due to less hardware and much less cumbersome for those with smaller breed dogs. It functions like a double loop martingale with the exception of a using the slider and a flat strip to tighten rather than a full loop. This collar tends to sit more flush to the neck, has one less slider, and it has fewer seams. Keep in mind that this design will force you to pick a leash side since the sliding loop will not rotate from side to side. This collar is available in all lengths and sizes 3/4 in (19mm), 1 in (25mm), and 1.5 in (38mm), and 2 in (50mm) and it is highly recommended for smaller breed dogs.  Pictured: By the Bushel

 

  

Double Bar Buckle (the tongue and hole collars - the original dog collar): This is the original dog collar. It resembles a human belt in appearance, just on a smaller scale. It has a metal buckle with the tongue and the collar has three to four holes in it that are a specified distance apart. Not recommended for leash usage with a Sighthounds; however, it can be used as a decorative collar or a tag collar. This collar is available in all lengths and sizes 3/4 in (19mm), 1 in (25mm), and 1.5 in (38mm), and upon request in 2in (50mm).  Pictured: The Alternate in Tanzanite

 
French Martingale (Martingale and Leash combo): The Twisted Cow's French Martingale combines two of the greatest pooch control items on the planet...a martingale collar and a leash.  The martingale collar portion slips over your dog’s head and the slide adjuster from the leash portion allows you to adjust for the perfect fit; the entire piece is one single unit so the leash cannot be detached. The French Martingale  is available in all sizes 3/4 in (19mm), 1 in (25mm), and 1.5 in (38mm), 2 in (50mm), and 3 in (75mm) all attached to a 4 (four) foot leash.  Pictured: Galapagos

 

The Taper Collar (from big to little): The Twisted Cow's Taper Collar is not a new concept but one that has been improved and decorated beyond belief.  This particular design of collar allows for more design room while utilizing a smaller fastening collar for a more comfortable wear.  When ordering, the pulldown menu will present a size that look like this: 2in(50mm) to 1in(25mm).  The 2in is the larger design face and the 1in is the collar / buckle size.  Please see the diagram below for a visual explaination.  Pictured: Mad Max

 

 

Trigger Snap (scissor action open and close): I love the look of the Trigger Snap leash end.  The open and close action mimics the open and close action of a pair of scissors.  Because it basically has two interlocking hooks, it does not open easily without some external action on the part of the parent.  A lot of pet parents prefer this style (as do I), but each parent must determine what works best for them and their pet.
